So today was, compared to the weekend, relatively uneventful. In the morning I slept in a bit, because I didn’t get to bed last night until super-late. Then we ushered the volunteers off to the airport. Their placements are in Cuzco, or near Cuzco anyways, so they had to fly in and meet their homestay families.
Then Ana Maria and I went over all the orgnaizations that we work with in Peru, which we’ll be doing much more of in coming weeks. We did that for most of the morning. In the afternoon we got me a cell phone. My new phone number is 511 9939 56 222. I know it has a lot of digits. Let’s see, the first 51 is the country code. Then the next 1 means it’s a number in Lima, and then the 99 means it’s a cell phone. The rest is my actual phone number! But when you’re calling from Canada you need to dial the whole thing. Then like an hour after I got the phone, it rang! And there was a guy on the other end jabbering on in Spanish. Unfortunately I don’t know how to say “I’m sorry but I think you have the wrong number” in Spanish so the poor guy was probably getting very frustrated because I didn’t know what to say. Oh well.
Then I went shopping and bought a Harry Potter book in Spanish. Hopefully it’ll help me improve at least my grammar a little. Does anyone want to see what a Peruvian mall looks like?

This is what it looks like from the street...

And this is what it looks like when you get to the edge and look down
I do…..
Is that it?
Well then, I am impressed…more pictures please.
