So I mentioned before that I was staying at Marita’s house. So what is it like? Very friendly.
Marita and her husband Angel are, oh I dunno, around 60? They run the house here. Also living here is Marita’s mother, who everyone just calls Abuela (grandmother). Marita and Angel have three grown children: Angela, the oldest, who lives here and has a boyfriend who is over all the time; Marcela, who is married and lives with her husband; and Juan Carlos, who also lives here. I am really bad at guessing ages, but I would say they are around 30.
Marcela and her husband are over a lot, nearly every day for lunch and sometimes for dinner. They have two kids, a boy who is 3 named Marcelo and a baby who is six months named Marcela, but everyone calls her by her middle name Lucyana because it is too confusing. Apparently it is very common in Peru to name your children after relatives, but three people with the same name in the same family is too much for me.
They also have two dogs and a boy named Billy who is kind of like a live-in hired help, who is only 14. There is a woman who comes by once a week do do everyone’s laundry and another woman who comes by sometimes to do housework. Or something like that, I really can’t figure it out. It is a very full house and often they have relatives or friends over. A very lively place to be!
